<p>Basic Requirements</p>

<p><br><br></p>

<ul>

<li>is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;</li>

</ul>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>is at least 18 years of age;</li>

</ul>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>is physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard to his or her own safety and the safety of members of the public;</li>

</ul>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>is of good character; and</li>

</ul>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp; meets ONE of the following conditions:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ol>

<li>The person has a secondary school diploma or equivalent.</li>

</ol>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ol>

<li>The person has,</li>

</ol>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>(A) a university degree,</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>(B) a degree from a college of applied arts and technology established under the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 that is authorized to grant the degree, or</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>(C) a degree from an Indigenous Institute that is approved under the Indigenous Institutes Act, 2017 to grant the degree.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>iii. The person has a diploma or advanced diploma granted by a college of applied arts and &nbsp;technology described in sub-subclause (ii) (B), or an Indigenous Institute described in sub-subclause (ii) (C), following successful completion of a program that is the equivalent in class hours of a full-time program of at least four academic semesters.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ol>

<li>The person has been granted a certificate or other document by a post-secondary institution evidencing successful completion of a program that the regulations prescribe as being equivalent to a degree or diploma described in subclause (ii) or (iii). 2019, c. 1, Sched. 1, s. 83 (1); 2023, c. 12, Sched. 1, s. 34.</li>

<p>Duties and Responsibilities</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Respond to calls for service</li>

<li>Resolve emergency and non-emergency situations in a manner that protects lives and property</li>

<li>Maintain public order and provide assistance</li>

<li>Enforce laws, investigate and when appropriate, arrest offenders, lay information and prepare cases for court</li>

<li>Prepare and submit timely and complete written reports concerning investigations and police service activities</li>

<li>Actively identify problems in the community</li>

<li>Proactively patrol assigned areas and identify problems within the community</li>

</ul>

<li>Cover letter and resume (include special skills, languages, related experience and commitment to volunteerism including the organizations, duties and hours).</li>

<li>Copies of all high school, post-secondary transcripts (completed/incomplete programs)</li>

<li>Copies of any other Certificates which demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning</li>

<li>Copies of Reference Letters (signed, dated and it is recommended to be from employment, community service and training/education). There is no minimum or maximum reference letters required.</li>

<li>Copy of Drivers Licence (front and back) and Birth Certificate (all numbers must be readable). If born outside of Canada, copy of Citizenship and/or Landed Immigrant status showing birth date.</li>

<p>SELECTION PROCESS:</p>

<p><br><br></p>

<p>Stage 1: Application Package Submission</p>

<p>Stage 2: Local Focus Written/Essay and Pre-Background Questionnaire</p>

<p>Stage 3: Fitness Assessment - Shuttle Run (minimum level 7)</p>

<p>Stage 4: Local Focus Blended and Developmental/Essential&nbsp;Competency&nbsp;Interview</p>

<p>Stage 5: Senior Officer Panel Interview</p>

<p>Stage 6: Psychological Assessment - Written and In-Person Interview&nbsp;</p>

<p>Stage 7: Background Investigation</p>

<p>Stage 8: Comprehensive Medical Examination</p>

<p>Stage 9: Chief and Deputy Chief Interview</p>

<p>Stage 10: Final Selection Decision</p>

<p>Once hired, cadets will be sent to the Ontario Police College for the Basic Constable Training Course.</p>

<p><em>At this time the Ontario Police College tuition fee has been waived.</em></p>
