Awanui Labs Gore is owned by Awanui Group (previously known as APHG), a healthcare company committed to providing facilities and services that deliver exceptional care to its clients.<br><br>About the role | Mō te tūranga:<br>Our Patient Services Department is at the heart of delivering exceptional healthcare to our community. We are seeking a <em>Trainee </em>or<em> Phlebotomist</em> to join our team. As a valued member of the department, you will play a hands-on role in collecting blood samples and managing a variety of clinical specimens, including blood, urine, faeces, and tissue, from patients in both community and hospital settings.</p>

<p>These specimens are then carefully processed and analysed in our cutting edge medical laboratory, directly contributing to accurate diagnoses and helping clinicians make informed decisions that impact patient care.</p>

<p>This is a casual position with flexible hours, including participation in weekend rosters as required, offering you a dynamic and rewarding work environment.<br><br><em><u>Key responsibilities:</u></em></p>
<ul>
<li>Performing blood collection with accuracy and professionalism.</li>
<li>Safely handling and preparing clinical specimens for transport.</li>
<li>Operating Point of Care testing devices to deliver timely results for urgent clinical needs.</li>
<li>Providing excellent customer service and acting as a vital link between patients, healthcare professionals, and the laboratory.</li>
</ul>
<p><em>The ideal candidate will hold a QMLT in Phlebotomy or a related qualification. However, for the right person, Awanui Labs Invercargill is proud to offer a comprehensive on-the-job training programme in Phlebotomy. We will support you through your training and help you work towards becoming a Qualified Phlebotomy Practitioner with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.</em><em><br><br></em>About you | He kōrero mōu<br><em><u>To be successful in this role you need to have:</u></em></p>
<ul>
<li>Demonstrate previous experience in a customer-facing role and a positive, friendly approach.</li>
<li>Demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity and be sensitive to special needs.</li>
<li>Be able to accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures in a fast-paced environment.</li>
<li>Be highly motivated towards learning and development in order to develop technical competency in Phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures.</li>
<li>Have adaptable IT skills.</li>
<li>A reliable transport and full Driver's license.</li>
<li>Eligibility to work in New Zealand.</li>
</ul>
