LVT Manager of Emergency and Critical Care (ECC)

<p>To&nbsp;support&nbsp;operational excellence, staff well-being, regulatory compliance, and patient safety&nbsp;within a high-volume, 24-7 Emergency and Critical Care service,&nbsp;this&nbsp;position&nbsp;will provide complementary leadership coverage&nbsp;alongside&nbsp;the&nbsp;existing&nbsp;LVT Manager&nbsp;of ECC.&nbsp; The addition of a second manager will expand leadership&nbsp;capacity for proactive&nbsp;oversight, improve&nbsp;our&nbsp;responsiveness to staff and clinical needs, and&nbsp;strengthen leadership&nbsp;presence&nbsp;and&nbsp;operational&nbsp;consistency&nbsp;across&nbsp;all&nbsp;shifts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Structured overlap between ECC managers, including scheduled collaboration on Wednesdays, will facilitate continuity of projects, coordinated decision-making, and alignment of departmental priorities, and allow&nbsp;management&nbsp;to spend more time on the floor.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></h2>

<h4><strong>Purpose and Contributions of the Position</strong>&nbsp;</h4>

<p>Through this role, the AMC ECC Nursing Services will:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Deliver exemplary, coordinated nursing and technical patient care aligned with AMC’s mission and core values.</li>

<li>Partner with ECC team members and medical staff to continuously improve the quality and safety of patient care within the department and across AMC.</li>

<li>Provide exceptional internal and external customer service in all interactions.</li>

<li>Support and lead quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives within ECC services.</li>

<li>Ensure staffing levels and operational workflows appropriately support patient care demands.&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<h4><strong>Major strategic responsibilities and challenges</strong>&nbsp;</h4>

<ul>

<li>Promote and model the mission, values, and professional standards of the Animal Medical Center.</li>

<li>Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of short- and long-term departmental goals, including staff and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).</li>

<li>Serve as a client and patient advocate, ensuring clear communication and efficient operations from the perspective of pets and their families.</li>

<li>Collaborate with the LVT Director of ECC, LVT Manager of ECC, and clinical staff to develop, evaluate, and improve policies, protocols, and quality standards for ECC nursing and technical services, ensuring compliance with national standards and state regulatory requirements.</li>

<li>Optimize patient flow and throughput across the Emergency Service and Intensive Care Unit.</li>

<li>Lead initiatives supporting ICU and Emergency Service nursing care while proactively addressing workload balance, staff wellness, and burnout mitigation.</li>

<li>Provide feedback and consultation to the ECC Director regarding nursing service performance, operational challenges, and personnel concerns.</li>

<li>Foster strong interdisciplinary collaboration among nursing services, veterinarians, and other departments &nbsp;</li>

<li>Work closely with section heads and medical staff to support clinical excellence and organizational goals.</li>

<li>Serve as a visible role model for professionalism, teamwork, and institutional commitment; act as ambassador for ECC within the hospital as an ambassador for the institution within the larger veterinary community.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Plan, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day nursing and technical operations within the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Service.</li>
