Volunteer Board Member (Probation Officer)

<p>Brakin Out Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced volunteer Probation Officer to join our board. The successful candidate will contribute their expertise to support at-risk youth, providing supervision, guidance, and mentorship as part of our community-based efforts. This role is critical in helping our youth develop the skills and attitudes necessary for successful reintegration into society. As a board member, you will leverage your expertise in juvenile justice and your professional network to help guide our strategic direction and enhance our programs. This is a volunteer position with an estimated commitment of 30 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional events.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide oversight and guidance on probation-related matters as part of the board.</li><li>Offer expertise in developing and implementing probation programs and policies.</li><li>Collaborate with community resources, including educational and vocational training programs, to support probationers' rehabilitation.</li><li>Assist in risk assessments and the development of individualized case plans.</li><li>Provide input for court reports and, if necessary, testify in court.</li><li>Participate in board meetings and contribute to strategic planning for Brakin Out Inc.</li><li>Engage in ongoing professional development and training relevant to probation and youth rehabilitation.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.</li><li>4-5 years of experience as a probation officer.</li><li>Prefer certification as a Probation Officer.</li><li>Skills in communication, crisis management, and collaboration.</li><li>Proven experience as a probation officer or in a related role in the juvenile justice system.</li><li>Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of at-risk youth.</li><li>Excellent communication and networking skills.</li><li>Commitment to the mission and values of Brakin Out Inc. '</li><li>Previous board experience is a plus but not required.</li></ul>
