<p>To lead and maintain a safe, organized, and compliant construction site by proactively identifying risks, supporting workers and sub-trades, completing required safety documentation, and ensuring Caliber’s Safety Program and WorkSafeBC OH&amp;S requirements are consistently followed. This role helps protect every person on site while supporting project execution and embodying Caliber’s values of Own It, Crush It, and Love It.</p>

<p>Position Summary</p>

<p>The Site Safety Officer at Caliber Projects Ltd. is a fulltime position on one of Caliber’s construction sites. The position is best suited for someone who thoroughly understands safe working practices and work environments in the multi-residential construction process. Is a hands-on type of person with excellent character, communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment. The Safety Officer reports to the Site Superintendent and is responsible for ensuring homes are built in a safe manner with no physical harm to all parties involved in accordance with the Caliber Projects Occupational Health and Safety Program.</p>

<p>The responsibilities of the Site Safety Officer include:</p>

<ul>

<li>Understand and ensure adherence to all required safety policies as directed by Caliber’s Safety Manual and WorkSafeBC OH&amp;S Regulations.</li>

<li>Ensure that Caliber training matrix is updated and that all employee training and certifications are up to date and saved in their respective employee folders.</li>

<li>Ensure that all COR certification paperwork is filed and updated</li>

<li>Complete inspections of the worksite to ensure all workers are compliant with Caliber’s safety program.</li>

</ul>

<p>Site Safety</p>

<ul>

<li>Ensure that all onsite safety stations are setup and fully functional daily.</li>

<li>Conduct daily inspections, identify risks, and communicate to relevant parties and monitor to minimize the potential for accidents and physical harm.</li>

<li>Keep the site and offices clean and organized.</li>

<li>Ensure the required safety signs and notice boards are maintained across the entire site.</li>

<li>Conduct safety orientations for all visitors and new employees on site and fill out appropriate documentation.</li>

<li>Ensure a supply of Personal Protective Equipment is available to all workers.</li>

<li>Ensure equipment and crane operator certification, rigger, and maintenance logs are up to date.</li>

<li>Ensure tools onsite are kept in safe working conditions and enforce tool inventory tracking of Caliber owned tools.</li>

<li>Coordinate weekly toolbox meetings to identify and minimize safety hazards proactively.</li>

<li>Set an exceptional safety example.</li>

<li>Attend monthly JOHS meetings and provide site statistics and updates.</li>

<li>Attend and provide safety input in subtrade meetings weekly and site wide meetings monthly.</li>

<p>First Aid</p>

<ul>

<li>Address any First Aid incidents in accordance with OFA training and protocols.</li>

<li>Complete safety forms and execute corrective actions when jobsite injury incidents occur.</li>

<li>Give the worker appropriate paperwork for follow up care.</li>

<li>Ensure that injured employees return for follow up treatments as needed.</li>

</ul>

<p>Personal Development</p>

<ul>

<li>Maintain a thorough understanding of the issues facing the construction site throughout the progression of the site.</li>

<li>Maintain a network of site safety officers and safety professionals.</li>

<li>Stay abreast of OH&amp;S advancements or crucial information in the construction industry.</li>

<li>Partake in continuing education to constantly grow ability and knowledge of site safety construction practices and procedures.</li>

<li>Continue to hone verbal and written communication and leadership skills.</li>

<p>Interactions</p>

<ul>

<li>Report to Superintendent on site and Project Manager as called upon.</li>

<li>Key internal interactions: Training Caliber Employees and ensuring they are working safely.</li>

<li>Key External interactions: Sub-trade/onsite working team, consultants performing inspections and the public.</li>

<li>Any site incidents requiring reporting or press to flow through the Superintendent.</li>

<li>The Site Safety Officer has the authority to stop work if the Caliber Projects Safety Program is not adhered to.</li>

<p>Qualifications &amp; Competencies</p>

<ul>

<li>A minimum of 2 years’ construction experience.</li>

<li>Advanced First Aid (minimum).</li>

<li>Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and knowledge of Salus and Procore is an asset.</li>

<li>Organizational skills with discipline and attention to detail.</li>

<li>Written and verbal communication skills.</li>

<li>Ability to read construction-working drawings, and specification checklists.</li>

</ul>

<p>The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who understands construction site operations, takes ownership of safe work practices, and communicates clearly with employees, sub-trades, consultants, and the site leadership team. They are organized, detail-oriented, and confident in addressing unsafe conditions, completing documentation, supporting first aid needs, and reinforcing safety expectations in a respectful and consistent way. They lead by example, stay calm under pressure, and bring a proactive mindset to preventing incidents before they happen.</p>

<li>Safety requirements, site orientations, toolbox meetings, inspections, and required. documentation are completed consistently and accurately.</li>

<li>Workers, sub-trades, and visitors understand site safety expectations and follow Caliber’s Safety Program and WorkSafeBC OH&amp;S requirements.</li>

<li>Risks and unsafe conditions are identified early, communicated clearly, and corrected without delay.</li>

<li>First aid incidents are responded to appropriately, documented properly, and followed up on with care and accountability.</li>

<li>The jobsite remains clean, organized, well-supplied, and prepared with proper signage, PPE, safety stations, and equipment documentation.</li>

<li>The Site Safety Officer is seen as a trusted, approachable, and reliable safety leader who supports a positive site culture while holding the team accountable.</li>
