Psychiatric Nurse practitioner

Clinicians will be expected to</p><ul><li>Conduct initial assessments including&nbsp;mental status examinations and pharmacological evaluations</li><li>&nbsp;Prescribe medications only after ensuring a thorough assessment is done to rule out medical or other causes as contributary factors to presenting symptoms.</li><li>Clinicians who understand that clients are unique in every way and must be treated as such.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure careful considering when prescribing to ensure the benefits of medications outweigh the risks&nbsp;</li><li>Provide services to clients based on current status, risk, and as clinically indicated</li><li>Support staff to provide recovery-oriented and trauma-informed services</li><li>Participate in staff meetings</li><li>&nbsp;Provide crisis intervention services supporting staff as needed</li><li>Communicate with hospital ER attending &nbsp;when clients access emergency services</li><li>Support and coordinate discharge planning with hospital and ER staff to ensure a smooth transition in care</li><li>Conduct risk assessment, provide guidance and direction on risk management</li><li>Use e-prescribing</li><li>Complete progress notes, significant events, referrals, and evaluations within expected timeframes</li><li>Provide individual counseling as part of the plan of care if and when needed</li><li>Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and data reports from EMR to track treatment progress and individual client outcomes</li><li>Provide crisis intervention services</li><li>Use collaborative documentation procedures for assessment and individual sessions with clients</li><li>Communicate with other&nbsp;healthcare providers and deliver integrated treatment in coordination with external providers.&nbsp;</li><li>Work in collaboration with the client and significant others to support recovery goals</li><li>Provide psychotherapy individual and group</li></ul>

<ul><li>Valid Maryland, DC or Virginia license for practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner;</li><li>Extensive experience working with people with serious mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders, and primary health care problems</li><li>Excellent written and communication skills</li><li>Eligible to obtain and&nbsp;maintain employment</li></ul>
