Counselor I (Vacaville- CMF)

<p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p>

<p>The Counselor I is responsible for the delivery of face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).&nbsp; </p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p><strong>Essential Duties:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions. </li>

<li>Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum as required by contract. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.</li>

<li>Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion. </li>

<li>Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community. </li>

<li>Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior and demeanor of program participants.&nbsp; </li>

<li>Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.</li>

<li>Completes all delivery documentation requirements per contractual obligations in ARMS. Summarizes participants’ background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.&nbsp; </li>

<li>Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.</li>

<li>Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.</li>

<li>Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors.</li>

<li>Other duties as assigned. </li>

<p><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></p>

<p>Required: </p>

<p><em>Counselor I must meet one (1) of the following requirements: </em></p>

<ul>

<li>Less than one (1) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; <em>OR</em> </li>

<li>Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS, enrolled in AOD education classes, and six (6) months of experience providing CBI services.</li>

</ul>

<p><strong>Certifications or Licenses:</strong></p>

<p>Required: </p>

<ul>

<li>Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS <em>OR </em>Registration with BBS or AOD certifying body; depending on education level.</li>

</ul>

<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p><strong>Skills/Abilities:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </li>

<li>Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential.</li>

<li>Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.</li>

<li>Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.</li>

<li>Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.&nbsp; </li>

<li>Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.</li>

<li>Protect and maintain program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.</li>

<li>Occasionally adjusts or moves objects up to 50lbs. in all directions.</li>

<li>Repeats motions that may include the wrists, hands and / or fingers.</li>

<li>Constantly moves from one work yard to another daily.</li>

<li>Frequently walks on hard or uneven surfaces. </li>

<li>Required to communicate verbally and in written form.</li>

<li>Uses all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.</li>

<li>Assesses the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.</li>
