<p>GCS Group delivers underground telecom infrastructure across Alberta with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. Our hydrovac crews work alongside HDD and locating teams on active telecom installations, and we hold every operator to a high standard. We're currently seeking an Intermediate Hydrovac Operator who's ready to take on more responsibility and contribute at a higher level.</p>

<p>The Role</p>

<p>At this level, you're expected to operate with confidence and minimal oversight. You know your machine, you understand the risks of working around buried utilities, and you can manage the day-to-day demands of a busy construction site without being walked through every step. You'll work closely with our drill and locate crews to keep operations running smoothly and safely.</p>

<p>Key Responsibilities</p>

<ul>

<li>Independently operate hydrovac units on telecom and HDD support work</li>

<li>Daylight utilities, clear bore paths, and manage excavation zones with precision</li>

<li>Conduct thorough pre-trip and pre-shift inspections and address any deficiencies</li>

<li>Monitor and manage water levels, spoil disposal, and equipment performance throughout the shift</li>

<li>Coordinate actively with the HDD drill and locating teams on site</li>

<li>Complete accurate daily field reports and equipment logs</li>

<li>Support junior operators with proper technique and site awareness</li>

</ul>

<p>Requirements</p>

<ul>

<li>Valid certifications required and must be confirmed current before your start date</li>

<li>Demonstrated hydrovac operating experience in a construction or utility environment</li>

<li>Experience working on telecom, HDD, or underground utility projects is a strong asset</li>

<li>Solid understanding of safe dig practices and utility identification</li>

<li>Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset</li>

<li>Valid driver's license; Class 3 an asset</li>

<li>Commercial vehicle training (Hours of Service, Load Securement, Weights and Dimensions, Pre-trip inspections);</li>

<li>CSTS 2020</li>

<li>WHMIS 2015</li>

<li>Ground Disturbance Level 2 / Supervisory&nbsp;</li>

<li>Fall Protection</li>

<li>Valid class 1 or 3 license, must have clean drivers abstract</li>
