<p><strong>Introduction</strong></p><p>High-temperature superconducting materials have interesting characteristics that make them suitable for future magnet applications. Come join CERN and take part in this exciting development.</p><p>You will develop and implement electromechanical systems for the manufacture and assembly of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets, as part of an ongoing research and development (R&D) programme. Your work will involve coil winding and assembly, instrumentation and tooling, bringing together mechanical, electrical and control technologies.</p><p><strong>Functions</strong></p><ul><li>Design and implement dedicated systems to produce high-temperature superconductor-based (HTS) coils, considering mechanical, electrical and control aspects, according to applicable safety regulations and industry standards.</li><li>Conduct regular maintenance of machinery, electromechanical systems and technical infrastructure in the HTS magnet laboratory.</li><li>Prepare technical documentation, including procedures, test and measurement reports, and ensure traceability of components.</li><li>Coordinate component logistics and stock for assigned assemblies; initiate and follow up manufacturing requests and purchase orders.</li><li>Perform or organise acceptance tests for manufactured components and assemblies.</li></ul>
<p>Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electro-mechanical Engineering or a related field.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Hands-on experience in design and manufacture, assembly and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment.</li><li>Experience with quality documentation, including working with procedures, compiling tests and measurements reports and component traceability.</li><li>Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools for electromechanical design would be an asset.</li><li>Previous experience with superconducting systems would be an asset.</li></ul><p><strong>Technical competencies:</strong></p><ul><li>Design of electromechanical systems.</li><li>Construction, test and installation of electromechanical equipment and systems.</li><li>Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems.</li><li>Knowledge of electrical machine technology.</li><li>Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment.</li></ul><p><strong>Behavioural competencies:</strong></p><ul><li>Working in Teams: working well in groups and readily fitting into a team; participating fully and taking an active role in team activities.</li><li>Demonstrating Accountability: taking responsibility for own actions and decisions.</li><li>Demonstrating Flexibility: adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements.</li><li>Communicating Effectively: listening actively to others and letting others speak.</li><li>Solving Problems: producing workable and timely solutions that meet requirements.</li></ul><p><strong>Language skills:</strong></p><p>Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.</p>
