HVAC Service Technician

<p>Michigan Broadband Services, a leading provider of high-speed communications solutions, is seeking a HVAC Service Technician to support approximately 20 sites across the western Upper Peninsula.&nbsp; This role requires a self-directed professional who can manage multiple locations, respond to issues independently, and maintain reliable facility operations.&nbsp; The position involves significant daily travel between sites and participation in an every-other-week on-call rotation for after-hours support.&nbsp; This role reports to the Central Office Facilities Manager.</p>

<p>Responsibilities</p>

<ul>

<li>Primarily hands-on HVAC maintenance; including cleaning condenser coils, changing air filters and belts, greasing bearings, and keeping systems operational and reliable</li>

<li>Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs</li>

<li>Diagnose and resolve facility-related issues efficiently</li>

<li>Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and service providers</li>

<li>Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards</li>

<li>Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and system performance</li>

<li>Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings</li>

<li>Support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning</li>

<li>Collaborate with internal teams to support operational needs and space planning</li>

</ul>

<p>Additional Responsibilities</p>

<ul>

<li>Perform light electrical work (e.g., lighting, basic troubleshooting)</li>

<li>Complete minor plumbing repairs</li>

<li>Conduct routine fire system testing</li>

<li>Perform building and roof inspections, including rough roof and facility condition checks</li>

<li>Maintain overall facility condition and upkeep</li>

</ul>

<p>Qualifications</p>

<ul>

<li>Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation preferred</li>

<li>Experience with general facility maintenance, repair, and tools</li>

<li>Ability to lift and move equipment and access confined spaces as needed</li>

<li>Strong time management to manage repairs and logistics under tight deadlines</li>

<li>3–7 years of experience in facilities engineering or building operations</li>

<li>Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems</li>

<li>Experience with building management systems (BMS) and maintenance software</li>

<li>Familiarity with safety regulations and codes (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)</li>

<li>Proven problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills</li>

<li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines</li>

<li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills</li>

<li>Ability to life equipment and work in confined spaces as needed</li>

<p>Requirements</p>

<ul>

<li>EPA 608 Type II or Universal certification</li>

<li>Minimum 2+ years HVAC experience</li>

<li>Strong working knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and basic controls</li>

<li>Ability to troubleshoot and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) at a practical level</li>

<li>Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between sites</li>
