<p>Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic has been providing outstanding patient care for the past 33 years.&nbsp; Nestled deep in the beautiful bay area 5 minutes from downtown Annapolis is our state-of-the-art ER and referral center open 24 hours and 365 days a year. We have 25+ Veterinarians, 50+ Technicians, 20+ Assistants and 20+ Client Service Representatives. We work side-by-side with different specialty practices (Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Rehabilitation) and care for their patients overnight.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>-10am-10pm Saturday and Sunday – Admitting/ICU&nbsp;</p>

<p>What You'll Get to Do&nbsp;</p>

<p>As a veterinary technician you will commonly:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize them based on their health status after obtaining vitals&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Initiate stabilization treatments such as intravenous catheterization, blood collection, fluid therapy, oxygen therapy and administering medications as directed by veterinarian&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by the veterinarian&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Administers high quality patient care through timely monitoring; correctly performs treatments as directed by veterinarian&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Collect and analyze blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in our in-house laboratory full of Idexx analyzers&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Administer anesthetic drugs and adjust them as needed during procedures and surgery, while recording and monitoring vital signs&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Produce images of soft-tissues, organs and bones safely with digital radiography equipment&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Place nasoesophageal and nasogastric feeding tubes for critical nutrition by mastering various suturing techniques&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Supply patients in need with packed red blood cell and frozen plasma transfusions&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Correctly calculates drug dosages and administers drugs as directed by veterinarian&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Lavage and assist in bandaging different wounds and lacerations&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Provide top quality care for post-surgical cases, including specialty ICU cases&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Provides outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant history&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Attend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Clinical Educator&nbsp;&nbsp;<br></li>

</ul>

<p>Knowledge and Skill Requirements:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Working knowledge and skill required to nurse critically ill and emergency patients&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Ability to critically think, problem solve, and make decisions in order to follow through on DVM orders&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment. Must be able to maintain professionalism and composure at all times.&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients and the public in a professional manner&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<li>Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>Ability to speak, read and write the English language&nbsp;</li>

<p>Education and Experience for Technicians:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>2 years of veterinary technician experience&nbsp;</li>

<li>ER experience preferred</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>RVT preferred&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>High School or Equivalent&nbsp;</li>

</ul>
