<p>SOSi is seeking a Portuguese (European) Instructor in Northern Virginia. In this role you will provide language instruction in a professional environment with responsibility for lesson planning, delivery, and assessment of learning. Strong inter-personal and communications skills are a must to supportively engage with adult students.</p><p><strong>Essential Job Duties</strong></p><ul><li>Deliver instruction to students ranging on a starting level from 0 to 3 to raise their proficiency level on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR).</li><li>Execute the full cycle of lesson development/planning, instruction, and student assessment.</li><li>Develop lesson plans for appropriate for beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes.</li><li>Facilitate classes focused on real-world scenarios (including practical knowledge of applicable culture, history, politics, and economy) to develop student's skills in speaking, listening, and reading for both social and professional situations.</li><li>Provide students with constructive feedback. Consult and collaborate with customers on organization needs to further student success.</li><li>Assess students’ learning and proficiency levels base in the ILR scale.</li><li>Complete customer specific training and instructor certifications.</li></ul>
<ul><li>The federal government requires all linguists on this contract to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This security clearance requires U.S. citizenship.</li><li>Prior to beginning work, candidates must complete the process for a fully adjudicated TS/SCI (with poly) security clearance. SOSi will sponsor qualified candidates for clearance.</li><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Language, or a related field.</li><li>Minimum of five years of recent experience in the foreign language instruction for adults/university students, assessing student proficiency, developing instructional curricula, and integrating current technology and cultural understanding.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of Portuguese history, culture, politics, and economy.</li><li>Possess excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Competency will be determined by a standardized exam which must be completed as part of the application process.</li><li>Possess native or near native competency in Portuguese (minimum ILR scores: SLR 5, TA 3) Competency will be determined by standardized language exams which must be completed as part of the application process.</li><li>Experience in using foreign language learning technology and teaching methodologies.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Existing, active, in-scope TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.</li><li>Master's degree in Education, Language, or a related field.</li><li>Overseas experience related to or utilizing Portuguese language.</li><li>Versed in multiple teaching methods to support students’ varied learning abilities and styles.</li><li>Subject matter expertise in International Relations, Economics, Legal/Law, Military, Literature, and Cross-cultural studies are highly desirable.</li></ul>
