<p> Patient Care Coordinator (Part-Time)</p>

<p><br></p>

<p>Primary Role:</p>

<p>The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to the patients and their families, ensuring that the patients and their families understand their appointment and financial responsibilities.&nbsp; The Patient Care Coordinator is also responsible for the collection of co-payments at the time of service.</p>

<p>Responsibilities:</p>

<ul>

<li>Registration, scheduling appointments, referral management, and pre-registration.</li>

<li>Patient flow – escorting the patient to and from appointments.</li>

<li>Confirms patient insurance eligibility and/or benefits.</li>

<li>Answer phone calls by the 3rd ring using the correct phone etiquette standardization.</li>

<li>Provides customer service to patients inquiring about their patient statements.</li>

<li>Determines required deposits, and processes the deposit into the patient receipt.</li>

<li>Audit charts for correct demographics and insurance information.</li>

<li>Update addresses in the computer system and email out new statements.</li>

<li>Discuss and educate family members/patients on various services offered by the hospital and methods of payment for those services including but not limited to overseas, local insurance and private pay.</li>

<li>Generate patient statements upon request.</li>

<li>Performs all other necessary duties as required by the hospital to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Ensuring the till float is balanced at the beginning and end of his/her shift.</li>

<li>Determines required deposits according to the patient’s insurance coverage and check for all account balances with AR.</li>

<li>Post all patient payments/deposits. Balances the cash drawer at the end of the day and deposits daily cash report in the safe.</li>

<li>Assure, if payment can’t be made in full at time of service, a payment plan is obtained for PIF. If that arrangement isn’t possible, the patient will be referred to the AR department.</li>

<li>Request change for till from courier when needed.</li>

<li>Review the total unapplied patient receipt report to assure all deposits and payments are posted accurately.</li>

<li>Report any overages and shortages on daily cash report.</li>

<li>Ensure the name of the Doctor on the printed encounter sheet matches the name in the system and is the same physician the patient saw.</li>

<li>If CPT codes are needed, it is the employee’s responsibility to get it from the department or cashiers Lead as quickly as possible.</li>

<li>Prompt response to emails.</li>

<li>Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.</li>

<li>The cashier is not allowed to adjust a patient’s account or waive payment without the approval of the Patient Services Team Leads or Manager of A/R.</li>

<li>Verify and sign witness of cash drawer for first shift swap.</li>

<li>Credit Balance - Reallocate credit on the same accounts.</li>

<li>Assign correct CPT codes from encounter/requisition sheet into the billing system, assign correct % of co-payment/deduction.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Assist Patient Services Team Leads as required or assigned.</li>

<li>Event support where needed.</li>

</ul>

<p>Qualifications / Knowledge Requirements:</p>

<ul>

<li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li>

<li>1-3 years’ experience in a medical office/hospital, or another equivalent experience.</li>

<li>Diploma in Healthcare Administration or Medical Terminology preferred.</li>

<li>Strong Analytical, oral, written communication skills.</li>

<li>Prior knowledge or familiarity with health insurance and other third-party health providers’ guidelines.</li>

<li>Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Bilingual in Spanish a plus, but not a necessity.</li>

</ul>

<p>Accountability:</p>

<p>The Patient Care Coordinator will be accountable to the Patient Services Manager. </p>

<p><br></p>

<p>Travel:</p>

<p>None expected.</p>

<p>Additional Skills &amp; Abilities:</p>

<ul>

<li>Superior customer service skills to deal with patients, families and hospital personnel.</li>

<li>Must be able to assess situations, identify issues/problems and prioritize duties.</li>

<li>Demonstrate knowledge of skills necessary for communicating with all ages and diverse cultures.</li>

<li>Must have basic mathematical skills.</li>

<li>Must be able to use personal experience, knowledge and other outside resources to make logical decisions to solve problems.</li>

<li>Experience in a hospital setting and understanding of hospital operations is preferred.</li>

<li>Other duties as assigned by the Hospital Administration.</li>
