Veterinary Technician - ICU & Critical Care

<p><strong>Friendship Hospital for Animals</strong>, a leading AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced <strong>Advanced Veterinary Technician</strong> to join our <strong>Intensive Care Unit (ICU)</strong> team. <p><strong>About the role:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Provide exceptional, compassionate nursing care to critically ill and hospitalized patients, treating each patient as your own.</li>

<li>Collaborate with board-certified criticalists, emergency clinicians, residents, interns, and technicians to deliver advanced, life-saving care.</li>

<li>Utilize advanced technical skills, including vascular access, transfusion therapy, ventilator support, CRIs, invasive monitoring, and complex patient assessment.</li>

<li>Monitor critically ill patients, recognize subtle changes, and confidently advocate when every second counts.</li>

<li>Care for a wide variety of complex medical and surgical cases in a collaborative, high-acuity ICU.</li>

<li>Mentor technicians, assistants, and trainees while fostering a culture of learning and clinical excellence.</li>

<li>Support pet owners with compassionate communication during some of their most difficult moments.</li>

<li>Excel in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, and attention to detail drive exceptional patient care.</li>

</ul>

<p><strong>Schedule:</strong> Schedule is usually four 10 hour shifts per week, with some weekends and holidays required. This is a full time position.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) required.</li>

<li>Five or more years of experience in emergency or specialty medicine, including advanced ICU or critical care experience.</li>

<li>Strong technical skills, sound clinical judgment, and the confidence to remain calm in high-pressure situations.</li>

<li>RECOVER certification, VTS (ECC), Fear Free Certification, and leadership or mentoring experience are a plus.</li>
