Child Enrichment Intern

<p>Job Summary</p>

<p>This internship position supports La Casita Center’s Children and Youth Enrichment team. This team works to provide a safe and nurturing environment to support young accompaniments at La Casita Center and enhance academic and social skills in children through formal and informal programming.&nbsp; This is an unpaid internship.</p>

<p>Management and supervision: The assigned support person for onboarding and supervisory functions is the Capacity Building Coordinator. The intern’s Children Enrichment experience and delegation of tasks will be given by the Children &amp; Youth Enrichment Community Liaison</p>

<p>Duties/Responsibilities:&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Campamento de La Alegría program(school aged children, June and July)</li>

<li>Engage students by responding to their questions, uplifting their work, and checking in with students</li>

<li>Support Camp volunteers as needed</li>

<li>Other duties as assigned pertaining to the camp (may include supporting with meals, menu and grocery list coordination, coordination of volunteers, and support with virtual content)</li>

<li>Supports the team to provide lessons and activities to students</li>

<li>Works directly with students during field trips and/or special events&nbsp;</li>

<li>Escuelita(pre-K program, September - May)

<ul>

<li>Prepare materials for activities</li>

<li>Set up and clean up meals and activities</li>

<li>Assist lead teacher in the classroom</li>

<li>Provide one on one support to students<br></li>

</ul>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Mentes Futuras Tutoring Program(September - May)

<ul>

<li>Assists with the Chromebook Loan Process</li>

<li>Communicate with students &amp; families involved in the program</li>

</ul>

</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>General Child Enrichment Services

<ul>

<li>Supports the child care area for daily walk-in programming, community events, Encuentros and Fundraising events, working with volunteers as needed</li>

<li>Set up and clean up of Children Enrichment spaces</li>

<li>Supports the team in the planning and execution of the Día de Los Niñxs y Regreso A Clases events</li>

</ul>

</li>

<li>Builds rapport with families and children being accompanied.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>Researches and provides input with team members on how to provide culturally competent and holistic child enrichment practices.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Partnerships with Community Organizations</li>

</ul>

<p>Supports tabling and outreach events throughout the year</p>

<p>● Ability to lift up to 50lbs&nbsp;</p>

<p>● Ability to climb, sit, stand, push, walk, kneel, and stoop&nbsp;</p>

<p>● Ability to tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time&nbsp;</p>

<p>● Noise level of work environment is high</p>
