Mechanical Engineering Intern

<p>Lexington Medical, Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Bedford, MA for summer 2027 medical device product development. You will test designs, create drawings, support&nbsp;product&nbsp;and process improvements, and see how engineering decisions move from R&amp;D into&nbsp;manufacturing.&nbsp;</p>

Our AEON™&nbsp;Endostapler&nbsp;is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive surgical stapler used in operating rooms around the world. <p><strong>About the Internship</strong>&nbsp;</p>

<p>As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Lexington Medical, you will support R&amp;D engineering work across product development, testing, documentation,&nbsp;manufacturing, and supply-chain activities. You will get hands-on exposure to mechanical and process design, common&nbsp;manufacturing methods, engineering testing, inspection, and the documentation&nbsp;required&nbsp;in the medical device industry.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is not an internship built around observation. You will be expected to contribute to real engineering work, ask good questions, learn quickly, and take increasing ownership as the summer progresses.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Support new product development and continuous improvement work through engineering testing, data collection, and technical documentation. </li>

<li>Create and maintain&nbsp;component&nbsp;drawings, test protocols,&nbsp;manufacturing procedures, and engineering reports. </li>

<li>Support supply-chain&nbsp;engineering and sourcing activities related to components and product development. </li>

<li>Perform quality checks using appropriate inspection&nbsp;instruments and record results accurately. </li>

<li>Operate equipment and follow work instructions with increasing independence as you are trained. </li>

<li>Support preventative maintenance and maintain&nbsp;the safety and cleanliness of engineering equipment and&nbsp;product. </li>

<li>Complete documentation required by Lexington Medical procedures and the medical device quality system. </li>

<li>Work closely with engineers across R&amp;D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to solve practical product and process problems.&nbsp;</li>

<p><strong>Qualifications</strong>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>

<li>Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline. </li>

<li>Available to work full-time on-site in Bedford, Massachusetts from June 2027 through August 2027. </li>

<li>Prior internship, co-op, or substantial hands-on engineering project experience is preferred. </li>
