<p>About the Role<br>We are looking for an experienced Refuse Mechanic to join our service team. This role is responsible for providing on-site diagnostics, repair, and maintenance for refuse collection vehicles (front loaders, rear loaders, side loaders, and roll-off trucks) throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The ideal candidate has strong experience with hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and heavy-duty truck repairs, and thrives working independently in the field.<br>Key Responsibilities<br>- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on refuse collection vehicles at customer sites.<br>- Service hydraulic systems, electrical systems, compaction equipment, and lifting arms.<br>- Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements.<br>- Operate service truck equipped with tools and parts to complete field repairs.<br>- Document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations.<br>- Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, timelines, and solutions.<br>- Ensure safety standards are followed at all times when working on heavy equipment.<br>Qualifications<br>- 3+ years of experience as a diesel, heavy-duty, or refuse truck mechanic (field/mobile experience<br>preferred).<br>- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems used in refuse trucks.<br>- Familiarity with McNeilus, Heil, Labrie, or similar refuse bodies a strong plus.<br>- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty truck systems with minimal supervision.<br>- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus).<br>- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.<br>- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor environments year-round.<br>- Own tools required; company provides specialized tools and service truck.<br>Benefits<br>- Competitive pay (hourly or salary, based on experience).<br>- Company-provided service truck and fuel card.<br>- Health, dental, and vision insurance.<br>- Paid time off and holidays.<br>- Ongoing technical training and career advancement opportunities.<br><br></p>
