<p><strong>8 month contract position with possible extension, 8-10 hours/week $50/hour&nbsp;</strong></p><p>C4C is looking for a Managing Director to take it to the next level of evolution and growth. The ideal candidate will bring their skills and enthusiasm for&nbsp; setting up and implementing the operational and administrative aspects of a small charitable organization.&nbsp; This is an ideal opportunity for a senior leader with a passion for media who enjoys being hands on, and does not wish to work full time.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>C4C&nbsp; works to find innovative ways to create positive change through educational and engagement activities related to media and journalism.&nbsp;</p><p><u><strong>The Role&nbsp;</strong></u></p><p>Reporting to the board of directors, the Managing Director will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the organization, which include working with our funders, non-profit partners and other stakeholders.&nbsp; In&nbsp; addition to overseeing the financial and administrative aspects of the current projects, the managing director will drive operational planning and budgeting, governance and&nbsp; strategy development.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience in all operational, administrative, financial and legal aspects of running a small charitable organization.&nbsp; They will be comfortable working with a volunteer board of directors, and ideally, have experience taking an organization&nbsp; through the startup or growth phase.&nbsp; They will have capacity to set up and implement&nbsp; knowledge management systems, communications and branding, contracting and reporting, financial planning and oversight.&nbsp; They will have solutions focused approach, and value innovation and&nbsp; creativity.&nbsp; They will share a belief in the value of storytelling as a means of establishing a more equitable society.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong>&nbsp;</p><ol><li><p><u>Finance and administration:</u></p><ul><li><p>Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization;</p></li><li><p>Responsible for ensuring&nbsp; current granting contracts are fulfilled, deliverables met and funders are communicated with in a timely way;</p></li><li><p>Ensure all required government reporting, audits, and insurance are up to date.&nbsp;</p></li></ul></li><li><p><u>Board Governance:</u>&nbsp;Working with the board in order to fulfil the organizations Mission</p><ul><li><p>Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions;</p></li><li><p>Organize all aspects of regular board and member meetings as required;</p></li><li><p>Work with the chair and other board members to strengthen governance structure,&nbsp; processes, recruit and on-board new board members.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><u>Strategy:</u> Working with the board to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs,&nbsp; strategic planning, and collaboration</p><ul><li><p>Oversee current programs working with service providers to receive timely reporting and delivery ensuring that activities&nbsp; remain within the boundaries of the organization's mandate;</p></li><li><p>Working in collaboration with the board, drive the strategic planning process to create a short and mid-term vision for the organization;</p></li><li><p>Act as the front face of the organization&nbsp; and respond to inquiries and new projects, manage charitable receipts and donor relations;&nbsp;</p></li><li><p>Update the web site, messaging and communications assets to ensure consistent and clear articulation of the charities mandate, goals and activities.</p></li></ul></li></ol>

<ul><li><p>University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.</p></li><li><p>5 or more years of experience in a senior role within a non-profit environment.</p></li><li><p>Transparent and high integrity leadership.</p></li><li><p>High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.</p></li><li><p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Technically proficient, able to overseeing website creation and maintenance.</p></li><li><p>Experience working with a non-profit board, well versed in governance best practices.</p></li><li><p>Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment for charities and the required filing and reporting.</p></li><li><p>Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation analysis, decision making and reporting.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p>Comfortable with legal contracts and funding agreements.&nbsp;</p></li><li><p>A passion for the mission of C4C, ideally with knowledge or interest in documentaries and journalism.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racism and equity-based work.</p></li></ul>
